My love for writing started my first year at Minneapolis Community College…

I took a writing class, enjoyed it, did well, and after I read my Dad one of my stories, he said, “You have a talent for this. Stick with it.” And now, here I am. I have my wonderful, funny father to thank for inspiring and encouraging me.

My name is Julia and I live in St. Paul with my husband, Sean, and our two dogs: Gus and Simon. Gus is 15 and has always had an old soul—even at three months. His underbite—bottom left tooth, specifically—is his signature. He sounds like a monkey when he’s playing and coughs like a 90-year-old man. Simon is 12. He’s a true character. Small dog, big dog attitude. He likes to cuddle and sleep, kinda like me. He also likes to listen to The Smiths. 

Besides writing and editing, I must listen to music every day (music is a huge passion of mine), binge-watch TV shows, read, balance my checkbook, sing loudly and off-key, and laugh. A lot.
